Find your way around Learn PadFlow

Every walkthrough you can run, the articles behind them, and the ways back to help from any other screen.

Learn PadFlow is one page, and it is the only place walkthroughs live. Start here with its progress, all walkthroughs by chapter, whatever a recent access change has opened for you, and the articles the public site publishes. Four things that would have been four pages, so that a reader who half remembers where something was has one place to look rather than four to be wrong about.

It is a library, not a sequence. Chapters carry their own progress, every item starts on its own, and nothing is numbered or locked. Nobody is asked to work through it end to end.

Every lesson in the full guide has one shape. It says why you would open the page, its first step stands on the switcher, the rail item or the menu item that brought you there, it runs four to seven steps, and its last step names where what it taught shows up next. Finishing one offers Continue for the next lesson in the chapter, or Next section once the chapter has run out, so following the chain is a choice rather than the only way through. Every lesson also has a page in this help center, and that page carries the same steps.

The five tiers, in reading order

Start here is the short guide: five tasks, under ten minutes, on the sample deal. It is a hero card with a progress ring, and its Restart sits in the same card. Restarting clears the progress and nothing else.

New for you appears only when somebody has changed what you can reach. What that opened collects here on your next page load, so a new level arrives as something to read rather than as a tab that was not there yesterday.

All walkthroughs is one card per chapter, each with its own progress and its own Restart. Every walkthrough on this page is one you can finish: what you can reach is resolved before the page renders, so a walkthrough your access does not cover is not listed rather than listed and refused.

Articles are the same downloads and templates the public site publishes, so nobody has to guess which kind of answer they are after.

The Outlook add-in card is last, and it is shown to people who can file documents, because filing is all the add-in does. What it is and how to install it are on its own page.

Getting back here from anywhere

Every walkthrough card carries a Read link to the page in this help center that covers the same screen, so a walkthrough and its documentation are two ways into one subject rather than two accounts of it.

Until it is clicked once, the side panel carries a highlighted Start here that runs the short guide. After that first click the same spot reads Help, and restarting the guide never puts the highlight back. Behind it are two doors to this help center and one to the guide. Documentation opens the help center's index in a new tab. Help for this page opens a list of the pages you can open, with the pages for the screen you are on first: on a project's Draws page, that is the project draws page and then the workspace one. A link to all of the documentation sits at the bottom of that list. Learn PadFlow is this page. Pressing the question-mark key from anywhere opens that menu, and turning the guided tour off in settings takes only Learn PadFlow out of it.

The help icon in a page header opens that page's own walkthrough. A header with no icon has nothing written for it yet.

How to

You open this when you want to know what the guide covers, or to run a lesson again.

  1. Help in the side panel is how you get back here from any page, and Learn PadFlow is the item that opens it.
  2. Every walkthrough you can run, and the articles behind them. One word, one place.
  3. Start here is the short guide: five tasks, under ten minutes. Its progress and its Restart live in this section.
  4. All walkthroughs is the long one, a chapter per area, each with its own progress. Nobody is asked to do them end to end.
  5. Articles are the same pieces the public site publishes. A New for you card joins this page whenever somebody changes what you can reach.
  6. A finished lesson offers Continue for the next one in its chapter, or Next section once the chapter has run out.

Known limits

Progress is per person, not per workspace. Restarting a guide clears your own record of it and changes nothing for anybody else, and there is no view of who in the workspace has completed what.
